September 8, 2016 – Salinas, CA – The California International Airshow honored two volunteers as Director of the Year and Volunteer of the Year at the annual committee chairperson meeting, Cynthia Fournier-Ferrell, Director of Transportation, was named “Director of the Year” in recognition of her hard work, dedication and outstanding accomplishments. Cynthia started volunteering in the Airshow office, then moved to the Admissions committee, served as Hospitality Director, Board President and currently serves as the Director of Transportation.
Julie Ann Lozano, a volunteer veteran of the Airshow for more than 20 years, was presented with the Alice Beck Memorial “Volunteer of the Year” Award. Julie Ann started volunteering as the committee chair for the President’s Tent and was then named director of Hospitality. Eight years ago she was asked to join the marketing committee as their coordinator where she works with the media and the performers.
Distinguished Service Awards were presented to Laura Smith from Ground Operations, Shirley Kline from Transportation, Val Brenner from Air Operations, Kiko Nunez from Concessions, Peter Ochoa from Security and Luis Contreras from Facilities.

July 31, 2015– SALINAS, CA — The California International Airshow Salinas is pleased to announce the addition of aerobatic performer Yuichi Takagi to this year’s performance schedule!
Originally from Nagasaki, Japan, Takagi is the only Japanese pilot flying airshows in the United States in his Pitts S-2S high performance aerobatic airplane. Born and raised in Japan, Takagi moved to the United States in order to realize his dream of becoming an aviator. He made his first flight in 1992 and has since accumulated over 6,000 hours of flying time as a flight instructor, traffic watch pilot, cargo pilot and glider pilot and 2,200 hours of aerobatic instruction. Takagi has been a flight instructor since 2000 at legendary aerobatic pilot Sean Tucker’s Tutima Academy of Aviation Safety in King City and recently joined Team Oracle as one of their Ferry and Ride pilots.
Takagi is now achieving his dream of being an air show performer, an aerobatic competitor in the “Unlimited” category and a certified aircraft mechanic. When he’s not teaching at the Tutima Academy, you’ll find him judging as an aerobatic competition judge for FAI (the Federation Aeronautique Internationale) and the IAC (International Aerobatic Club).

FEBRUARY 25, 2015 – SALINAS, CA — The California International Airshow Salinas is thrilled to announce the F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team will be part of this year’s 35th Anniversary spectacular, which is scheduled for September 26th and 27th at the Salinas Municipal Airport.
The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is a single seat, twin-engine, all weather stealth tactical fighter aircraft developed for the United States Air Force. The result of the Air Force’s Advanced Tactical Fighter program, the F-22 was designed as an air superiority fighter but has additional capabilities including ground attack, electronic warfare and signals intelligence roles. The Raptor’s combination of stealth, aerodynamic performance and situational awareness gives the aircraft unprecedented air combat capabilities.
“We are extraordinarily excited that we were selected to host the most incredible jet demonstration performance in the world. The stealthy Raptor is the most technologically advanced tactical fighter on earth, it can perform maneuvers that were once considered impossible. Salinas, CA – January 31, 2015 – The California International Airshow has added three new Directors to its Board and named a new Board President. Mary Zeeb has been named Board President for the 2015-2016 shows. Mary is a long time Airshow volunteer and has served on its Board for the past four years as its Director of Admissions.
Additions to the Airshow’s Board of Directors include Safarina Maluki, a long-time hospitality veteran, who has been named as Director of Hospitality, Cheryl Della Mora, who recently served as the Admissions Coordinator, has been named as the Director of Admissions and Jennifer Russell, who has served on the marketing committee has been named the Airshow’s Director of Marketing.

December 13, 2014 – SALINAS, CA — The California International Airshow Salinas won two prestigious awards at the recently concluded International Council of Airshows conference, which was held in Las Vegas December 8th – 11th.
The United States Air Force Thunderbirds named the Salinas Airshow “Best Civilian Show Site of 2014” and the next day, the Salinas Airshow was honored with the first-ever Pinnacle Award for Innovation Excellence- Platinum Level by the International Council of Airshows.
Bruce Adams, Executive Director of the California International Airshow said “To be named the Best Civilian Show twice in four years is an incredible honor. It takes a lot of work by a lot of amazing volunteers to pull something like this off.” Adams added “To be presented with such prestigious awards from our peers and The Thunderbirds is an incredible accomplishment.”
The International Council of Airshows conference brings Airshow operators, sponsors and performers from around the country together to exchange ideas, and meet performers and to start putting shows together for the following year.
Next year’s Airshow is scheduled for Sept. 26-27, 2015 at the Salinas Municipal Airport.
